A service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Eagle River. Will is to be cremated and inurned at the National Cemetery on Fort Richardson.

Will was born Jan. 21, 1925, to Fred and Emma Railing in Superior, Neb. He spent most of his youth in Nebraska and Texas.

During World War II, he was in the Navy and served with the Seabees. His four-year service included the South Pacific and North China. He was a life member of VFW post 4278 of Camas, Wash., and a charter member of the World War II and Naval Memorials in Washington, D.C.

Will gave his life to Christ at the age of 9 and was a member and retired deacon of the First Baptist Church in Eagle River. He was also a life member of the Chugiak Senior Center.

A carpenter for most of his life, he liked to work with wood and had his own business for making clocks. Will also enjoyed movies, reading, watching TV and fishing. One of his great joys was playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 58 years; his sons, Steven Railing of Burlington, Wash., Kelly (Erin) Railing of Wasilla, and Scott (Loretta) Railing of Anchorage; and daughter, Kathryn Railing of Eagle River; his 12 grandchildren, Candy (James) Mersdorf, Lori Railing, Troy Railing, Joshua (Laura) Railing, Crystal (J.D.) Kearns, Ben Railing, Curtis Railing, Caitlyn Railing, Emily Railing, Jordan Railing, William Railing and Jonathan Railing; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Mersdorf, Lacey Kearns, Andrew Railing and Emma Mersdorf.

Will was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emma Railing of Vancouver, Wash.; and siblings, Harland of Superior, Ben of Orchards, Wash., Harold of Camas, Wash., Dorothy Huffman of Camas, Lillian Haile of Plainview, Texas, and Florence Lord of Lincoln, Neb.
