VA Portland to Participate in Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Veteran Summit

 Portland, OR - VA Portland Health Care System will participate in the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Vet Summit on July 10.

WHAT: VA Portland Health Care System will participate in the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Vet Summit on July 10. The free event connects Veterans, their families, caregivers, and supporters with an opportunity to connect with VA staff, learn about available benefits and services, receive claims assistance, and access community resources. 

WHO: The event is open to all Veterans, their families, caregivers, and supporters. Participants include representatives from VA Portland Health Care System, the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.

WHEN: Friday, July 10, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

WHERE: Uyxat Powwow Grounds, 9600 Hebo Road, Grand Ronde, Oregon, 97347

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Event highlights include the Veterans Sweat event at 7 a.m., registration beginning at 9 a.m., and the opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Media planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP in advance. VA denied 8 in 10 disability claims from veterans with rare muscle disease, data shows.

According to VA records, 306 veterans filed disability claims for inclusion body myositis, or IBM, over the past five fiscal years. The VA denied 251 of them.
