Richard Arnold Willingham

Richard Arnold Willingham passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in Vancouver. Born on April 14, 1939 in Denver, Colorado, Richard was 69 years old. A Vancouver resident for the last 16 years, Richard was formerly of Seattle. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and recipient of the Purple Heart during the Vietnam War, and retired after serving in the Navy for 23 years. He was an active member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Schick-Ogle Post #4278, former four year Post Commander of Post #4278, and former six year Adjutant for the District 6 V.F.W. Richard enjoyed volunteering at schools to read to children, drive the shuttle bus at the Vancouver V.A., drag racing, and watching his Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos play on Sundays. Richard is survived by his daughter Lorrie Gross of Vancouver, son Richard A. Willingham Jr. of Seattle, brothers Wesley L. Hankins of Salt Lake City, Utah, and William Willingham of Denver, Colorado, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Richard with full Military Honors at a later date at Bethel Community Church in Washougal. Memorials in Richard's honor may be sent to the Veteran's Relief Fund: PO Box 579, Camas, WA 98607. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
